2020 Youth Five Nations - squad invite

Scottish Fencing is starting to plan for the Youth Five Nations which are in Manchester on the weekend of the 27 and 28 June.

We have sent invites to all Scottish fencers who are currently on the British Fencing junior and cadet rankings. Our plan is to build a squad with the final team being selected from this group. If you are on the junior and cadet rankings and not got an invite, please get in touch to let us know if you are available and interested in selection. Email -  by 12 March

2020 Youth Five Nations - coaching staff

Scottish Fencing is delighted to announce that we are taking a squad of junior fencers to the Youth Five Nations in Manchester on the 27 and 28 June 2020. We are now looking to recruit three volunteer weapon coaches to support the Scottish Team for this event.

We also hope to run a couple of training sessions creating a positive “development first” learning environment for athletes, staff and parents.

We invite applications from coaches who are qualified at Level 3 or, Level 2 if they have relevant experience and are currently working towards their Level 3.

2020 Youth Home Nations

This years Youth Home Nations will be held in Manchester on 27th June 2020 and we will shortly be contacting the top ranked fencers across each weapon category to ask for availability if selected. As in previous years, fencers aged 18 or under will be eligible for Scotland selection. 

The intention is to have 5 team staff with a Head of Delegation and Team Manager joined by 3 weapon coaches in the same structure used for the event in Dublin in 2019. 

BYC Qualifiers

Regions will only hold qualifers for BYCs if there are sufficient entries. 

East Region - organiser is Don McKenzie. There is likely to be qualifiers - details to follow; qualifiers are normally held in March

Scottish Fencing are recruiting 3 x Lead Weapons Coaches to work with our 2019-20 Pathways Squad.

2019 Youth Home Nations

The next Youth Home Nations is in Dublin 29 and 30 June. This is a big shout out to our squad of fencers on their selection to fence for Scotland. The individual event is on the Saturday and the team event is Sunday. Good luck to all!

2019 Youth Home Nations

Scottish Fencing is delighted to confirm we are sending a team to compete in the Youth Five Nations in Ireland on the weekend of June 29/30.

After some direct consultation with the top 6 rankings in each weapon, enough interest was lodged that allows us to send a highly competitive team across most weapon disciplines.

Ross Morrison, Scottish Fencing Director of Development & Safeguarding was delighted to accept the invite for Scottish Fencing from Irish Fencing whilst acting as Scottish Fencing Liaison Officer for the event.

2019 CW squad announced

The 2019 Challenge Wratislavia squad is below, congratulations to all selected. We are keeping the training as Sunday 17 February, venue confirmed as Woodmill High School 10am - 4pm. Please bring fencing kit, packed lunch (plenty of water/fluids) and a note book and pen!

2019 Selection for European Cadet and Junior Championships

Scottish fencing is delighted to congratulate the young Scots who have won places in the Great Britain teams for the European Cadet and Junior Championships, and to thank the coaches and families who have helped them do so.  The following have been selected to compete in Foggia in Italy, between 21 February and 3 March:
